America’s Favorite Team: The Story of Dallas and Its Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys have often been known as America’s favorite team. They are headquartered in Irving, Texas; however the famous Cowboys stadium is located in Arlington, Texas. They recently relocated from the Texas Stadium in 2009 to their new home. This first stadium has been home to the Cowboys since October 24, 1971. This facility only had the ability to hold 65,675 people; the old facility was demolished, as the new one was built.

The team originally started in 1960, and is now one of the most successful pro ball teams in America. They were called the Dallas Steers in 1960. Although the first season did not produce any wins for the team, the second season seemed to be more productive. The conquered the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1961. It was in 1966 the then known team as Dallas Ranger, took home the championship. This started a winning streak, which lead to 20 straight seasons. To date, no other team in history has had such a winning streak. Because of the excellent plays, 8 players were sent to pro ball teams.

The 70′s and 80′s did not prove to be good decades for the team. It was in the 1990′s, when Emmitt Smith joined the teams, which things began to change. In 1991, with the help of Emmitt Smith, Aikman, Smith, and Michael Irving, the team finally went to the playoffs. To date, The Cowboys are still one of the most famous teams around. If you live in Texas, the Cowboys are the greatest thing since sliced bread. There fan base has consumed the entire state, as the stadiums are packed to capacity each and every game. Perhaps the men also go to see the world famous, Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. Through history using the most beautiful ladies to cheer on the team, could not have hurt.
